From my perspective, Dicken's description of a world which existed over one hundred years ago, captures the times we now live in remarkably well. The close of the millenium finds us blessed with numerous opportunities, as well as daunting challenges - confronting us with a "BirthQuake" of world wide proportions.

In 1992, Over 1,600 scientists from around the world, released a document entitled, "Warning to Humanity." This warning stated among other things that human beings were on a collision course with nature, and that we need to make significant changes now if we want to avoid profound human suffering in the future. Other rumblings of a global quake in addition to our environmental crisis, can be felt all over the world in addictions, mental illnesses, wars, crime, poverty, child abuse, and much more. At the same time, growing numbers of individuals throughout the world are exploring more earth friendly and satisfying ways of living. Jacob Needleman observed, "When you're in the middle of an earthquake you begin to question, what is it that I really need? What is my real rock?"

WOW was founded based on Carmen Colombo's unshakeable belief in "the power of faith, hope, and love." With faith and hope comes the strength and determination to do what must be done to preserve our earth, our families, our spirits. Love offers the greatest motivation of all - our love for our children, our families, our brothers and sisters, and love for our precious blue planet can lead us down a sacred path, we must simply follow it.
