This Prison we call Home
It's been years since the last time
that we looked into
each other's eyes
and saw each other.
We live together but we're both alone.
You can't call this a happy home.
Call it anything...
but leave love out of it.
I know we never wanted
things to turn out this way.
I know we both had dreams
but we let them slip away...
We took the best years of our lives,
put them on this altar
of sacrifice...
and watched them burn away.
We made a home that looks ideal.
And everyone believes
that we're the happy ones...
that's how well we play the game.
But you and I, we're both aware,
this game we're playing isn't fair.
We just go through the motions
and neither of us cares.
Is this enough for you?
Is this what living means to you?
Can you make believe a little longer...
or do you want to scream???
Let me out!
Let me out!
I know there's more to life...
and I want to feel it!
Let me out!
Break these chains!
Tear down these walls...
that make up this prison
that we call home.
So tell me what do we do now?
We have to find a way somehow
to get on with our lives,
without getting in each other's way.
I don't care what people say...
I know that's what you fear
but I'm telling you,
get over it!
We keep putting our lives on hold
but even our kids are getting old
and look at them...
do you really think that they don't know?
I see them make the same mistakes
do you realize what we did?
What fine examples we are...
they're living the same lies!
Is this OK with you?
Is this what living means to you?
Do you really want to keep it up?
Don't you want to scream???
Let me out!
Let me out!
I can't go on pretending
and I can't believe
that you'd still care to...
Let me out!
Break these chains!
Tear down these walls
that make up this prison
that we call home.
We still may have
a few years left
we can try to make
them the best.
We can part as friends
or we can go
screaming all the way...
Let me out!
Let me out!
I know there's more to life
and I want to feel it!
Break these chains,
set me free!
Tear down these walls...
that make up this prison
that we call home.
