To Where You Are

Editor's Note (by Carmen Colombo)
If you never heard Josh Groban sing, do yourself a favor and do it. I saw him for the first time on a show called "Ally McBeal" in 2001 in which he was a guest. When he sang on that show...I immediately KNEW that this young man would go far. In the same way, I KNEW that the show, which was extremely popular since its debut in September 1996, would be over when they let Robert Downey Jr. go from the show in 2001. Those I said these things to remember...because they laughed. But here we are, in November 2002... Josh Groban has, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful voices you will ever hear, and he sings in many languages. His mentor is David Foster, a great Canadian Arranger and musician, who has helped many well known singers launch their careers. And Josh's career is doing very very well, thank you. And sadly, Ally McBeal dropped off the charts as soon as Robert Downey Jr. was gone. It suddenly seemed like the show had no sense to it whatsoever anymore. How can the love between the characters of Ally McBeal (played by Calixta Flockhart) and the love of her life, (played by Robert Downey Jr.) that was so magical and REAL, after years of poor Ally kissing frogs, just disappear in one episode and not destroy the show? You can't play with people's emotions like that. Real love doesn't just disappear without a reason, or for a stupid reason. In a way, I must admit that even though I enjoyed the show very much and watched it regularly, I totally lost interest when I saw what happened to Robert Downey Jr., and how he was let go when he needed help the most. That was the show's downfall, and some may say that this is a very good case of "you get what you give". Thankfully, Robert Downey Jr. got help, and he is, and always will be, supported and loved by his multitude of fans, who truly wish him well.
